Research Opportunities
Dr. Melinda Roney is participating in a study on treatment of arthritis. The study is being done to see if Celebrex has less gastrointestinal side effects than other arthritis medications. This study is an open labeled study, which means that both Dr. Roney and the participants will know what medications they are being given. It is also a real world study, which means that the treatment of arthritis is no different than a patient who is not participating in a study.
If the drug that is being taken is not effective or causes side effects to the participant, the arthritis medication will be changed. The benefit for patients is free arthritis medication for six months.
For this particular study a patient must have:
1. Symptoms of or a diagnosis of arthritis
2. Be willing to take a non-steroidal arthritis medication daily for 6 months
3. Cannot be taking aspirin on a daily basis
4. Be between the ages of 55-74
5. Must not have had a diagnosis of cancer
The deadline for enrollment is May 1, 2008. If you would be interested in participating in this study, and you think that you may qualify, please contact Dr. Melinda Roney at her email. You may also contact her office at 816-781-4740.
